McLeish won’t break bank for new signings

Alex McLeish says Birmingham will not pay “excessive money” for players this month.

The Blues boss has been linked with a number of players during the current transfer window but will remain sensible in his spending.

McLeish said: “I’ve already sat down with Peter Pannu last week and we’ve agreed that we are going try and bring some players in.

“Carson (Yeung) has given the green light to do something.

“Will it be loans or permanent deals? I don’t know. There are both options available.

“But we are not going to kill the club by paying excessive money – which can happen in the January window.”
