It has to be said this game has about as much going for it as a fart in a Jacuzzi. I have lambasted the stay-aways all season but even I don’t blame anyone for finding an alternative to an end of season tussle with the mighty Hull City. Add our public humiliation at Eastlands last week and the World’s biggest Derby coming up in seven days time, players fans and management will be glad to get this out of the way.

Hull City is not a Premiership Club and the fact they have stumbled upon the big show is hard to explain. They play on a rugby ground which is the home of Hull RFC who are a top class outfit in their particular field. Hull City moved from what was basically a supermarket car park, which still stands crumbling and not attracting even the investment of a rag and bone merchant.

Whatever way they got there and whatever miracle kept them there, they come to St Andrews desperate for points to take them into a third and equally unbelievable season in the top division. At least they have employed themselves a half decent manager but got rid of the previous incumbent far too late for Ian Dowie to save them. In fact the old manager should have gone two years earlier which would have saved us from that awful karaoke session after the last game of last season. Brown should have said a quite prayer of thanks and taken a low profile and been grateful that three other clubs, all with greater pedigrees than they, had limbo danced beneath them.

Blues, it has to be said are no great shakes at the moment and changes need to be made. Hull are dangerous in they have nothing to lose and owe their fans big style after managing to do what no team has done this season and lose at home to Burnley. If Ian Dowie wants to use my disparaging remarks to inspire his team then he is welcome. Anything to liven up what promises to be a turgid encounter.

Blues need a performance as they haven’t won for some time and since the forty points mark was reached Blues form is relegation not top half, let alone Europa Cup. There are a few shrewd punters looking at Blues to follow Hull, Burnley and Pompey back into the Championship next year.

Personally I would like to see the following line up, Hart in goal, a back four of Carr, Johnson, Dann, and Ridgewell. The midfield should be Larsson. Gardner, Ferguson and McFadden with Chucho and Jerome up front. Michel should be the first to come into the fray should things not be working and the reliable Kevin Phillips to finish them off.

Hopefully my fears will not be realised and Blues will dazzle us with a display of wonder football. After all I have been known to be wrong before!
